Storytime Preschools Teachers
2009 SRP Audiobooks Videos/DVDs

Coming to the Madison Public Library during the month of August.

Geared for children preschool - 6th graders, their parents, caregivers and teachers.

Visitors to Bug’s Eye View will enter an outdoor world of larger-than-life

models that demonstrate the advanced adaptations of typical

insects: sleek wings, heavy-duty armor, specialized appendages, and

highly sensitive detectors. Bug’s Eye View contains information on

many levels, beginning with basic identification and classification.

Find out why spiders, ticks, sow bugs, centipedes, and millipedes are

not classified as insects. Work with an assortment of different legs,

body parts, antennae and wings to make insects, spiders, and

centipedes.

Preschool
The children's librarian visits the local Preschools and Headstart Program in Madison once a month throughout the school year.  The children are able to see some of the new books from the library and hear about events that are taking place.  Local Preschools are welcome to visit the Public Library whenever it is convenient!  Just call ahead and reserve a time for your visit.

Teachers
The Public Library has copies of Children's Magazines such as Bookbag, Copycat, Lollipop, Totline, etc.  Teachers are welcome to use these resources in the Library as often as they'd like.  Contact the children's librarian to set up a time that's convenient for you.
Teachers may e-mail Dana and request books of a certain subject/topic.  The books will be waiting at the front desk upon request.  Also, teachers may let the Library staff know if their class will be doing library research so we can be well prepared to help those students utilizing the library for information.

The children's librarian is available for book talks or classroom visits on specified topics.  Any of the schools in Lake County may utilize this resource.

Audiobooks
The Public Library continues to expand the selection of juvenile books on tape and CD.  These have proven to be a great resource for struggling readers or kids who simply don't enjoy reading on their own.  You can check the Library Catalog at
http://www.sdln.net to see what's available or stop in and take a look.
