Storytime
*The
next Storytime session will begin the week of March 22nd, 2010.*
Storytime sessions take place at the Public Library except during the
months of August and December. (If you have never been to Storytime, you may
wish to call and make sure there is a session before you bring your child.)
Storytime sessions are as follows:
Monday evenings
6:30pm-7:00pm
3 yr. olds
7:00pm-7:30pm 4 & 5 yr. olds
Tuesday mornings
11:00am-11:30am 3 yr. olds
11:30am-12:00pm 4 & 5 yr. olds
During a typical Storytime session children listen to various theme-based
stories, sing songs, learn rhymes, do finger plays, and complete simple craft
activities. No sign-up is necessary...come when it works for you!

Preschool
The
children's librarian visits preschools in
Madison once a month throughout the school year. The children are able to see
some of the new books from the library and hear about events that are taking place.
Local preschools are welcome to visit the Public Library whenever it is
convenient. Just call ahead and reserve a time for your visit.

Teachers
The Public
Library has copies of Children's Magazines such as Bookbag, Copycat,
Lollipop, Totline, etc. Teachers are welcome to use these resources in the
Library as often as they'd like. Contact the children's librarian to set
up a time that's convenient for you.
Teachers may
e-mail Dana and request books of a certain subject/topic.
The books will be waiting at the front desk upon request. Also,
teachers may let the Library staff know if their class will be doing library research so
we can be well prepared to help those students utilizing the library for
information.
The
children's librarian is available for book talks or classroom visits on
specified topics. Any of the schools in Lake County may utilize this
resource.

groups. Please check with the Library if you are interested in doing so.
The movie must be shown at the Public Library.
The Public Library also has a wide variety of educational videos, DVDs,
and CD-ROMs that
can be checked with a one week loan period.

Audiobooks
The Public Library continues to expand the selection of juvenile books on
tape and CD. These have proven to be a great resource for struggling
readers or kids who simply don't enjoy reading on their own. You can check
the Library Catalog at
http://www.sdln.net
to see what's available or stop in and take a look.
